Herbs
What
do herbs do?
Herbs creates a powerful internal shift in your system. For example,
when energy is sluggish and stagnant, there are specific herbs that
move and quicken the energy. When your system is predominantly of
a hot nature, there are herbs that cool. Herbs, like acupuncture,
bring equilibrium to your system. Moreover, each herb is designated
to enter different meridians and organs.
For
example, the common herb, ginseng root (Ren Shen), enters the Lungs
and Spleen. It supports weakened Lungs with symptoms of asthma,
wheezing, difficulty breathing, or shortness of breath. It also
rebuilds the energy of the Spleen when there are symptoms of bloating,
diarrhea, nausea, overall weakness, etc.
It
is important to understand that the above symptoms are not all treated
with ginseng. In fact, taking ginseng (Ren Shen) may be tremendously
detrimental to you, if it is not appropriate for the diagnosis.
An herbalist wouldn't treat the symptoms, but would find the overall
root diagnosis. This root cause is the origin of your symptoms.
That is why seeing a well-trained herbalist is crucial.
Herbs
are typically prescribed as pills, powders, or raw herbs. Also,
be aware that in Chinese Medicine, herbs are not prescribed as single
herbs only. They are usually formulated in combinations with other
kinds of herbs for best results.
